Adventure and Play

Would you rather run up a humongous sand dune, or run around the block?

Would you rather climb a mountain, or climb the Stair Master?

Would you rather run down a Volcano, or run on the treadmill?

Is the stationary bike a little too stationary.

Don't get me wrong. There is a very valuable place for the gym. It is a great place to go when you can't get outdoors. But living the adventure life is about taking what we do at home or at the gym and applying it in an adventurous outdoor environment. By adding that element of the unknown, we will gain so much more fun and excitement as well as that dose of temporary stress that the body so desperately needs.

The idea here is that a person can workout, and run, and bike like crazy, but if we don't find a way to make it fun or maybe even adventurous, we're much less likely to stay with it for a lifetime. So, if we can create that one big humongous reason to keep doing the work and staying fit and strong, we won't ever quit. Ever. And if we can make the "workout" fun or even adventurous, it makes it that much more rewarding!

The bonus is that after we run up that sand dune...

we get to ride down it!
